The Dream Beam Invasion is the 5th episode of the third season of The Dreamstone (and the 31st of the show overall). It first aired in the UK the 4th of February 1994.
Synopsis[]
Urpgor has finished testing his latest invention, the Miniaturizing Funnel, a shrinking device for Urpneys, which has been implanted into an aircraft disguised as a cloud. Thus disguised, they can hover nearby the Dreammaker's tower where they can shrink and enter the beams that The Dreamstone produces to send dreams to sleeping residents, so that they can go in and sabotage the Noops' dreams.
The first night is successful, with a delighted Urpgor vehement on a second more productive night with as many spoiled dreams as possible. The Dreammaker and the others however have received complaints and keep guard, with Albert spotting the vehicle and managing to put a stop to the invasion, but not before Frizz and Nug managed to sneak through and spoil one dream.
Rufus, Amberley and Albert shrunk into the dream seeking retribution, but just as the two Urpneys are on the verge of surrender, their shrink spell wears off (making them giant in comparison), allowing them to scare the now less willing Noops back out. After the Dream Maker casts it out, the used Dream Bubble deteriorated and floated away, and eventually burst with the Urpneys in their normal size, over a river (as before).
"Nug, guess what?"
"Yeah?"
Trivia[]
- This episode is the only to end with the Noops losing to the Urpneys.
- The episode is the fourth in five in which the final line is not delivered by Frizz (Nug says it, albeit as a reply to Frizz's comment before).
- This is the fourth episode to show a dream onscreen.
- This also marks the fourth time the villains have successfully mass ruined dreams across the Land of Dreams (though the only of which not utilizing the Argorribles). It also marks the only time they have succeeded in ruining them twice in the same episode.
- Several Urpneys used as background characters throughout the series are named and used in the mission of this episode.
Goofs[]
- The first Noop whose dream is sabotaged has green hair in reality, but blond hair in the dream.
- It is not explained why The Dream Maker didn't get rid of the Dream Bubble in the first place.
